According to Dr. Sriranga Prakash Gupta Consultant Internal Medicine KIMS ICON Hospitals, we all know how important hand hygiene in our daily lives is, hand hygiene means hand washing. As of today we are in a living a world where we are prone to different types of infections, one of the most common mode of spread is via hand contamination.
Hand hygiene is important is very important not only health workers but for also general public to prevent transfer of various infections like viral, bacterial, fungus.
Hand hygiene can be maintained by washing with soap or can be done with using hand sanitizers.
Advantages of hand washing:
Prevent spread of influenza, corona virus and diarrhea.
Decreasing respiratory infections
Even during our daily routine it is necessary to wash our hands after:
Going to washroom
Changing nappies of a child
Before feeding a child
Before and after eating food
Handling raw meat, fish.
Hand hygiene is important after sneezing, coughing or blowing your nose.
Not only just hand washing is important but also the time and duration (a minimum of 20 seconds) & technique of washing is important.
