Churu sizzles at 50 degree Celsius in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 26 (IANS) A severe heat wave continues to grip Rajasthan with Churu in the state touching 50 degree Celsius on Tuesday, an all-time second highest in the month of May, said Met officials.

In other parts of the state, Kota recorded 46.5 degree Celsius, Bikaner 47.4 degree Celsius, Sri Ganganagar 47 degree Celsius, Jaisalmer 46.4 degree Celsius, Barmer 45.7 degree Celsius, capital Jaipur 45 degree Celsius, while Jodhpur was 44 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

Severe heat wave conditions are likely to occur in Churu, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Sri Ganganagar till Wednesday, the Met office said.

On Friday and Saturday, dust storm, thunderstorm accompanied with squally winds (speed 50-60 kmph) may occur, which would take the temperatures down in many parts of the state, said Met officials.

The heat wave condition is severe in 23 out of 33 districts of the state, said officials.
